Thursday,
July 27th Chicken Little - 1 hr. 21 minutes
Chicken Little (voice of Zach Braff) is an
earnest young fowl living in the town of Oakley Oaks who one day starts
a panic when a falling acorn drops on his head and he warns everyone
that the sky has started to collapse. Chicken Little was so wrong,
of course, much to embarrassment of his father Buck Cluck (voice of
Garry Marshall), and now the young chicken is struggling to live down
the incident. While his best friends Abby Mallard (voice of Joan Cusack),
Runt of the Litter (voice of Steve Zahn) and Fish out of Water stand
by him, the school's start athlete Foxy Loxu (voice of Amy Sedaris)
never passes up an opportunity to make fun of the diminutive chicken.
As a result, Chicken Little tends to keep his more recent discoveries
to himself, but what's a bird to do when he uncovers pseudo-scientific
evidence that suggests the sky really is starting to fall, in large
hexagonal chunks?
Thursday,
August 10th 102 Dalmatians - 1 hr. 40 minutes
Glenn Close goes to the dogs once again in
this sequel to 101 Dalmatians. After 3 years in prison, Cruella DeVil
is judged to have paid her debt to society and is set free, as she
pledges to have nothing to do with animal fur (especially dogs) every
again. Meanwhile, Kevin operates an animal shelter that has fallen
on hard times; unless he's able to find new financial support, the
lost dogs he's been caring for will have nowhere to go. Kevin and
his girlfriend Chloe who happens to be Cruella's parole office, get
the idea of bringing their plight to the people through the press,
but media reports of the shelter's problems attract an unlikely benefactor
- Cruella. While Ms. DeVil claims the purist intentions, it seems
the shelter is housing a large number of Dalmatians, and in cahoots
with mad fashion designer Monsieur Le Pelt, she plans to turn the
puppies into haute couture.
Thursday, August 24th A Bug's Life - 1 hr. 35 minutes
The story focuses on a colony of ants who
seasonally gather food for themselves and a wild gang of rowdy grasshoppers.
When bumbling worker ant Flick (David Foley) destroys the food supply,
the angry grasshoppers lead by the manically warped Hopper (Kevin
Spacey), threaten to kill the ants if they don't produce new supply
of food by the time they return-an impossible feat. Flick leaves the
anthill in search of help in the form of bigger bugs, and to wage
war against the grasshoppers. What he doesn't know is he has actually
discovered a group of down-on-their-luck traveling circus insects
in need of a job. When the ants realize that their heroes are really
circus performs (and the circus bugs realize these grasshoppers are
really big and mean), the situation goes from bad to worse. Ultimately,
the ants use their large numbers to overcome the grasshoppers.
